At Mondragon Fine Art, preservation of your fine
art print is important to us. We take great care to provide beautiful
prints that will last for decades. Insights on how to preserve your
prints are listed below.
- If you purchase an unframed print, keep it in its
mailing tube until it is ready for the frame shop to use. The less
print-handling, the better.
- When in discussion with the frame shop, ask for
recommendations about UV protective glass or Plexi glass. Two good
options are Tru Vue's Museum and Anti-Reflective glass. These two glass
materials are excellent choices and have great UV and glare-reduction
benefits. In the plexi glass area, Cyro Industries can offer UV
blocking materials as well.
- When selecting mounting mats and print mounting board, ask
for acid free. The process for mounting the print is best achieved if
your frame shop supports vacuum mounting.
- When the frame is complete, select a location that is dark
but can be directly illuminated with overhead track lights that have
broadband spectrum with UV blocking capabilities. Select an interior
wall versus an exterior that does not face the sun or outside. A room
that has a cool yearly temperature ~68º, with moderate humidity
~35%, is the ideal environment for display, but not realistic in
every situation.
Try to achieve as many of the ideal suggestions as possible within your budget.
